Responsibilities
- Provides maintenance for MEI’s fleet of Ford and Dodge service trucks (both gas and diesel 250 thru 450), forklifts (6k lb. to Versa Lift 60/80k), Peterbilt and KW tractors, and Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers.
- Performs mid-level mechanic work on gas and diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems.
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Keeps equipment available by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures.
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies by repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing assemblies, components, parts, or systems, including hydraulics, and performing machine shop operations.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
- Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.
- Contains costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
- Manages supplies by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Enhances the maintenance department’s reputation by accepting ownership of tasks and exploring opportunities to add value.

- Minimum ten (10) years of proven fleet mechanic experience.
- Ability to work in a highly functioning team environment.

Qualifications
- Preferred: Construction industry experience.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools, hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools.
- Rigging experience is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, thoroughness, and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Performing general physical activities requiring considerable use of arms, legs, and whole body, such as climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
