About the Role

Repairs machinery or mechanical equipment. Work involves examining machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose the source of trouble, dismantling or partly dismantling machines, performing repairs and/or cleaning using hand tools, replacing broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock, and working with a machine shop to procure replacement parts or send machines/parts for repairs. Perform Preventive Maintenance activities as required, reassemble machines, and make necessary adjustments for proper operation.

Responsibilities

• Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose the source of trouble.
• Dismantle or partly dismantle machines and perform repairs and/or cleaning using hand tools.
• Replace broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock.
• Work with the machine shop to procure replacement parts or send machines/parts for repairs.
• Perform Preventive Maintenance activities as required.
• Reassemble machines and make necessary adjustments for proper operation.
• Use and enforce the use of appropriate PPE.
• Follow and ensure compliance with Standard Work Procedures (SWPs).
• Work extended shifts as required by facility needs.
• Participate in the on-call rotation after a 90-day onboarding period.
• Provide coverage for A, B, C, and D shifts as needed to support vacations, vacancies, or staffing gaps.
• Dismantle and reassemble extrusion line equipment, including but not limited to extruders, winders, grinders, and dies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Technical school preferred).
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
• Ability to read a tape measure or rule in both standard and metric.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Excellent safety record.
• Familiarity with best-practice safety procedures.
• Completion of assigned ISO training.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Fork truck operations license.

Skills

• Strong mechanical ability.
• Ability to use an assortment of hand tools.
• People skills, including customer service and conflict resolution.

Physical Demands

• May work a 12-hour workday.
• Requires standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and reaching.
• Requires pushing and pulling rolls, carts, and hoists.
• Requires lifting up to 55 pounds.
• Requires ascending and descending ladders throughout the workday.
