About the role
Join our team as a Fleet Diesel Mechanic for the HudsonLink service, providing over 500,000 passenger rides annually between Rockland County and Westchester County. You’ll play a vital role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining buses to ensure passenger safety and service reliability.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and other breakdowns using diagnostic tools.
- Perform removal, installation, disassembly, and reconditioning of diesel engine components.
- Conduct routine and preventative maintenance according to manufacturer specifications.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet or exceed industry standards; complete test drives to verify vehicle safety and performance.
- Write detailed inspection reports and repair plans; maintain electronic maintenance logs.
- Adhere to workplace safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Requirements
- Solid background in diesel mechanics with experience working on Cummins and Detroit engines.
- ASE Diesel Certification or associate degree in diesel technology is highly regarded.
- Willingness to obtain a CDL.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical issues.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, including outdoors, and willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Experience in the Motor Coach Industry preferred.
