Duties
- Repairs, overhauls, and tunes up tractors and specialized equipment.
- Serves, overhauls and repairs manual and hydrostatic transmissions and power take off units.
- Repairs and rebuilds all tractor attachments and changes tires.
- Repairs tractor front end and steering mechanisms.
- Fixes brake systems and hydraulic mechanisms.
- Repairs electrical systems, overhauls starters and alternators.
- Performs general repairs to various types of equipment used at the Allegheny County golf courses and parks.
- Performs other related duties as required or requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of: Golf Course operations equipment.
- Skills in: Equipment and engine repair and maintenance.
- Abilities to: Maintain and repair engines and specialized equipment such as aerators, hedge trimmers, lawnmowers, chainsaws trash pumps, snow blowers, snowmobiles, Zambonis and other equipment.
- Maintain and repair engines and specialized equipment such as aerators, hedge trimmers, lawnmowers, chainsaws trash pumps, snow blowers, snowmobiles, Zambonis and other equipment.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Work independently with little supervision.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the general public.
- Work in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
Minimum Requirements
- A high school diploma or its equivalent AND three (3) years of experience working on and repairing engines and/or equipment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
- Must possess a valid PA Driver’s License at time of hire.
Residency
Allegheny County within 1 year.
Veterans' Preference
Will be awarded to eligible candidates.
