About the role
The Mechanic performs maintenance, inspections, and repairs on AES Indiana fleet vehicles and equipment, including aerial devices, cranes, derricks, and other specialized utility equipment. This role ensures compliance with safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements to maintain operational reliability and safety.
Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Perform annual aerial inspections on AES aerial devices, cranes, and man-lifts per manufacturer and OSHA/ANSI standards.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and execute repairs using approved parts and procedures.
- Complete operational checks and physically test all controls for proper function.
- Document all inspections, repairs, and discrepancies accurately in company systems.
- Report critical defects immediately to the Fleet Services Team Leader and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain and calibrate tools such as torque wrenches and gauges to ensure accuracy.
- Adhere to AES Indiana safety protocols and participate in required safety meetings and training.
- Support emergency response and storm restoration efforts as needed, including overtime and extended shifts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance or heavy equipment repair.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with OSHA/ANSI standards.
Work Conditions
- Primarily garage-based with occasional field work.
- Requires lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various weather conditions.
- Must be available for overtime, on-call assignments, and storm duty as required.
Pay
Hourly wage rate: $29.90 - $50.65
