Mechanic Assistant (Seasonal)

About the role

This position provides essential support for daily fleet and shop operations by performing general maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance, repair, and cleaning of equipment and vehicles.
• Maintain shop floors, tools, and shop equipment.
• Operate vehicles, motorized equipment, and shop equipment.
• Pick up and deliver parts from vendors.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid MN driver’s license.
• Preferred qualifications include current enrollment or enrolling in an upcoming semester or recently graduated from an automotive/mechanic program.

• Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, sitting (test driving), walking, lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying, climbing, bending at waist, reaching (extending hand and arms in any direction), handling objects (grasping, turning or otherwise using hands or hand), repetitive hand motion, use of arm muscles over extended periods, use of leg muscles over extended periods, kneeing (bending leg at knee and resting on knee), crawling (moving about on hands and knees), crouching (bending at knees), overhead work (over shoulder height), stationary desk or bench work with neck bent forward are usually required to perform the job.
• Lifting/Carrying: The employee must be able to lift/carry items such as mechanical tools including air tools, starters, alternators, rims and tires, hydraulic cylinders and all parts from awkward positions.
• Machinery/Vehicles: Working with arms and hands above the shoulders for work on steering and suspension components. Pushing and pulling objects in the course of making repairs.
• Weather Conditions: Working outdoors in all weather conditions; working indoors.
• Chemicals/Fumes: Working with chemicals, working near fumes/vapors.
