Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Valid license/certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
• Texas commercial driver's license (Class B or A) with "P" and "S" endorsements
• Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification
• Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to pass Texas Department of Public Safety school bus driver physical exam
  • Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests
  • Must be able to pass criminal history check and MVR driving record check
  • Proficiently read, write, and communicate verbally in English
• Experience: One-year experience in auto/truck maintenance and repair, preferred

Working Conditions

• Tools/Equipment Used: Wheel balancing equipment; tire repairing equipment; small hand tools; power tools; welding torch; torque wrench; jack and lift equipment; school bus and district vehicles.
• Posture: Frequent standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion: Frequent walking; frequent climbing, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
• Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment

• Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces
• Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards
• Work around machinery with moving parts
• May work in tight or enclosed spaces
• May work alone
• Regularly work irregular hours
• Occasional prolonged hours
