Qualifications
- Experience with equipment maintenance
- Ability to read blueprints, schematic drawings, and engineering specifications
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals to determine work procedures
- Experience using industrial hand tools and power tools
- Possession of all Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic hand tools
- Minimum 4-5 years of industrial maintenance experience
- Minimum 3 years of Maintenance Mechanic experience
- Reliable transportation and ability to work 7 days as needed
- Formal education/degree/certificate in construction, technical, or trade school such as NCCER Millwright Certification
- Former Zachry employee (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Detect minor to major problems with machines and equipment
- Disassemble, repair, and/or replace parts on equipment
- Perform tests to ensure machinery is running smoothly
- Complete preventative maintenance on machinery
- Install, service, and repair mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, steam valves, steam traps, steam or water coils, radiators, water softeners, unit heaters, water heaters, condensate and circulating pumps, and production machines
- Clean and lubricate machinery
- Perform basic diagnostic tests and check machinery performance
- Use precision measuring and leveling equipment (e.g., rulers, calipers, micrometers) to determine dimensional requirements
- Operate engine lathes, grinders, and files
- Unload, inspect, and move equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
- Use rigging and hoisting devices (e.g., chokers, chain falls, come-alongs) to move equipment/materials
- Follow directions from supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated industrial maintenance history
- Electrical, electronics, and computer programming skills to repair sophisticated equipment
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and layout tools (e.g., lasers, ultrasonic measuring and alignment tools, plumb bobs, cutting torches, welding machines, hydraulic torch wrenches, hydraulic stud tensioners, soldering guns, metal working equipment like lathes and grinding machines)
- Knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Good problem-solving abilities
- Good aptitude and manual dexterity
- Good reading comprehension
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors
- Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations
- Basic computer proficiency
Physical Requirements
- Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting
- Communicate by talking and hearing
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools
- Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection
- Work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing appropriate PPE
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots
