About the role
As a Field Technician, you will visit customer sites to troubleshoot and test mechanical equipment in a hyperscale data center environment. You will collaborate with team members and external stakeholders to meet key customer objectives, complete technical documentation, and act as the subject matter expert. This role requires motivation, eagerness to learn, attention to detail, and mechanical curiosity.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field tests of mechanical equipment and installations
- Troubleshoot critical mechanical equipment
- Communicate with customers and outside stakeholders
- Act as the subject matter expert for mechanical systems
- Complete technical documentation accurately
Requirements
- 1-2 years of industry experience with mechanical systems, including heat exchangers, air handlers, pumps, fans, valves, and controls instrumentation
- Technical degrees or certifications in relevant fields (STEM, MEP, SCADA)
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience commissioning HVAC, cooling, or critical infrastructure systems
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Willingness to travel (up to 25%)
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of IRHX/Heat Exchanger systems and heat transfer principles
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and controls integration
- Knowledge of LV electrical systems and safe isolation procedures
- Experience performing functional testing, start-up, and commissioning activities
- Understanding of data center cooling infrastructure
