About the role
Job Title: Meat Utility Worker-AM
Availability Reports To Meat Department Manager
Responsibilities
- Aid guests in locating items on or off the sales floor
- Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and other special requests
- Provide excellent guest services by professionally answering department telephone or on the sales floor
- Wrap meat and seafood in appropriate packaging
- Ensure accurate pricing on items within displays and sales floor - fill, rotate, and remove product according to date
- Support teammates and positively contribute to the culture of the Meat Department
- Address guest concerns and resolve issues by practicing the boomerang principle
- Ensure high standard quality control by inspecting, rotating, maintaining proper temperatures, and replenishing all meat products on display
- Maintain proper inventory levels in Meat Department (containers, wraps, tags, etc.)
- Maintain food safety logs and lead by example through following proper procedures
- Ensure all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all personnel
- Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle a diverse crew in a highly stressful environment
- Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies
- Ability to apply on-the-job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises
- Proper training and knowledge of the following equipment/procedures: slicers, proper lifting techniques, trash compactor, baler
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Stand in one place for a long period of time, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly
- Full range of upper body motion
- Lift up to 80 pounds on an occasional basis
- Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures such as freezers, coolers, kitchens, and sales floor
- Repetitive motion of hands and wrists
Work Schedule
The Meat Utility Worker is a position that may be part-time or full-time. The work schedule may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
