Primary Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain operating conditions, meters, and gauges.
- Record meter and gauge readings and operational data.
- Operate belt presses to process and dispose of waste.
- Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, grounds and other work areas.
- Follow U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and State of Florida regulations.
- Ensure safety standards are met.
- Tend to automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment.
- Monitor control panels and adjust valves and gates.
- Monitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures and related controls.
- Inspect equipment and identify operational problems.
- Perform field tests and recommend reorder of process chemical supplies.
- Perform lab tests and report results.
- Perform manual labor including filling and emptying of machine bins and cleaning equipment, facilities and grounds.
- Perform minor maintenance under guidance of the supervisor.
- Operate vehicles for plant operational purposes.
- Practice good housekeeping and properly dispose of waste.
- Absorb and apply operational, process, safety and quality instructions.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- At least six months experience in a related position and environment preferred.
- Experience with a variety of machinery, vehicles, material handling equipment, hand and power tools preferred.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must have the ability to quickly learn how to safely operate specialized machinery.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting 25% of the time.
- Standing 25% of the time.
- Walking 50% of the time, potentially up to five miles per shift.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Talk or hear.
- Stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Enter confined spaces.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds).
Work Environment
- Spend 100% of the time in an operations environment.
- May need to work outside in inclement weather conditions and drive company vehicles.
- Possible work hazards: fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, heavy machinery, high pressure, hot or cold work environment temperatures, slippery surfaces, water hazards, and electrical equipment.
