Meat/Seafood Manager

About the role

The Meat & Seafood Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for overseeing the sales and operations of the Meat & Seafood Department. This includes planning, ordering, and preparing cutting lists, processing meat according to department goals and standards, ensuring correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and displays, engaging and evaluating team members, recruiting, hiring, and making promotion/transfer decisions, and leading a team to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, order, and prepare cutting lists.
• Process meat according to department goals and standards to maximize sales and gross profit.
• Ensure correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and displays.
• Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions, and make recommendations on merit increases via completing the bi-annual performance review process.
• Regularly attend and participate at in-store meetings.
• Recruit, hire and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
• Confidently exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
• Take and document corrective actions when needed, including collaboration with business and HR partners in managing performance to include coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination when needed.
• Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
• Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
• Lead a team that collaborates to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest experience your customers will receive.
• Serve as a Key Carrier for the store and/or act as a Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age, and have a basic knowledge of math, weights and measures.
• A minimum of 2 years of meat cutting experience in the grocery or restaurant industry including leadership experience.
• Ability to perform other related duties as assigned.
• Able to stand for up to 4 hours continuously, and a total of 8 hours per shift is a must; will walk up to 2 miles per 8 hours.
• Able to work inside a temperature controlled area.
• Good vision is required for using sharp knives, band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine and tenderizer.
• Able to lift/carry products horizontally/vertically between 25 to 90 lbs., from 4” to 60”, a distance up to 10 feet for 20 hours.
• Able to use a pallet jack to move pallets horizontally up to 500 lbs., requiring a force of up to 85 lbs., a distance up to 100 feet for up to 5 hours.
• Able to horizontally move racks of products weighing up to 70 lbs., requiring a force up to 25 lbs., for a distance up to 50 feet for up to 10 hours.
• Able to move tables weighing up to 70 lbs., requiring a force greater than 35 lbs., a distance up to 2 feet for up to 1 hour.
• Able to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Possess a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• Show outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers.
