About the Role

Shop N Save is looking for an experienced Meat Manager to oversee all aspects of the Meat Department, including staff, sales, margin, and labor. This role requires a customer-focused approach, adherence to procedural guidelines, and compliance with Company's Standards of Conduct and OSHA Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly sales for the meat department to maximize sales and profits.
  • Monitor and control all costs and expenses within the department, including proper ordering, inventory control, cutting procedures, shrink, and ad displays.
  • Manage Meat Department staff, including training and scheduling, ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Oversee shift operations, including writing and/or approving work schedules.
  • Ensure products for upcoming ads are ordered, in stock, and available for processing.
  • Stock meat cases, including presentation, facing, filling, and organization of products as per department schematics, and ensure tag and pricing accuracy.
  • Maintain cleanliness of meat aisles, storage areas, and work areas for safety, including cleaning shelves, keeping floors free of spills, and removing hazardous debris.
  • Assist customers with purchases, information, and product selection, including selling and cross-selling products.
  • Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.
  • Operate and use equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, hand trucks, band saws, and meat grinders.
  • Monitor rotation of all meat products, paying attention to expired stock and discarding outdated or spoiled items.
  • Manage and control all inventory, including back stock, ensuring tags match products, preventing out-of-stocks, and accurate accounting for all products.
  • Use knowledge of scales, weight measures, and tares to accurately weigh and label meat products, including packaging, wrapping, and proper dating procedures.
  • Monitor proper temperatures during all stages of meat production.
  • Maintain proper safety practices and care while using cutting accessories, including compliance with mesh glove usage while using a knife.
  • Sustain a high level of product knowledge and product preparation.
  • Walk the department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and clean appearance at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.
  • Proficiency in reading, counting, and writing, with the ability to accurately complete all documentation.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to freely access all areas of the store, including offices, selling floor, stock areas, walk-in coolers, and freezers.
  • Ability to lift up to approximately 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to perform movements such as walking, standing, bending, and stooping repeatedly or for sustained periods.
