Meat Manager

About the Role

A Meat Manager at Albertsons Companies ensures the meat department operates smoothly, delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service. Your day starts early with equipment and food safety checks, inventory review, and order verification. Throughout the day, you lead your team, maintain displays, prepare meats, and handle customer requests. Physical activity is constant, including lifting and standing in a temperature-controlled environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality customer service and handle special orders to build loyalty.
• Oversee daily operations, staffing, and scheduling for the meat department.
• Maintain accurate inventory, perform monthly counts, write orders, and verify deliveries for quality and accuracy.
• Implement merchandising programs, ensure pricing integrity, and create display signage.
• Enforce company policies, perform temperature/tare checks, and maintain safety standards.
• Cull cases daily, inspect for expired products, and follow markdown guidelines.
• Safely operate saws, grinders, and knives to cut, trim, and prepare meat products.
• Review reports, identify opportunities, and suggest changes to inventory and pricing.

Requirements

• Knowledge of different cuts of meat and experience as a meat cutter or meat clerk.
• Prior department operations and staff management experience to lead a team effectively.
• Ability to safely operate meat processing equipment such as saws, grinders, and tenderizers.
• Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering excellent service and handling special orders.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and leadership.
• Self-motivated, eager to learn, and share product knowledge with customers.
• Proficiency in using computers for reports, communications, and inventory tasks.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Adhere to workplace conduct, uniform, and grooming standards.

• Occasional (3–4 hrs): Bending/Stooping, Push/Pull (1–35 lbs.), Twist/Turn
