Meat Department Manager

About the role

Lead daily department operations in a retail store, ensuring staff training, staffing levels, and adherence to company standards to meet goals and key performance indicators.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inventory ordering, maintenance, and quality control, utilizing inventory procedures to ensure freshness and proper storage.
• Manage team activities including stocking, production, and handling spoiled/damaged products, maintaining product knowledge and store promotions.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and safety guidelines, taking corrective actions when necessary.
• Develop and execute plans to meet company goals, monitor department performance, and participate in meetings.
• Handle scheduling, labor control, overtime, and payroll, implementing company policies and work schedules.
• Lead staffing, training, performance management, and career development of associates.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department following operational standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; retail experience preferred; supervisory experience advantageous.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, and perform in varied store environments.

Skills

• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of retail operations and management systems.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus depending on location.
