About the Role
As a Meat Cutter at Fresh Thyme Market, you’ll keep our meat cases stocked and clean while assisting customers with a friendly, energetic demeanor. This role requires adherence to all procedural guidelines set by the Meat Department and a genuine desire to help people live better, healthier lives through real, affordable food.
Responsibilities
- Stock meat cases, ensuring presentation, organization, tag accuracy, and pricing compliance per Meat Department schematics.
- Maintain cleanliness of meat aisles, storage areas, and workspaces for safety, including sweeping floors, removing debris, and cleaning shelves.
- Monitor and rotate meat products, paying attention to expired stock.
- Assist customers with purchases, information, and product selection, including selling and cross-selling products at the meat counter.
- Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.
- Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Maintain proper temperatures during all stages of meat and seafood production.
- Cut, tray, and package all required meat and seafood products for the day.
- Organize, stack, and rotate meat products in coolers and freezers.
- Accurately weigh, label, package, and wrap meat products, following proper dating procedures.
- Prepare specialty meat and seafood products using Fresh Thyme’s recipe standards.
- Follow safety practices and care when using cutting accessories, including compliance with mesh glove usage.
- Participate in pre-inventory preparation, including back stock and tag verification.
- Maintain high product knowledge and preparation standards.
- Regularly walk the department to ensure an organized, sanitary, and clean appearance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
- Preferred: 2–3 years of grocery retail experience in Meat department processes and procedures.
- Preferred: Experience in the natural foods industry.
- Preferred: Completion of a Journeyman cutter or apprenticeship program.

Pay
Starting pay ranges from $19.50 to $22.00 per hour, with raises occurring in accordance with Fresh Thyme Market’s plan policy. The actual rate offered will meet or exceed the legal wage requirement for the job’s location.
