Meat Clerk
Location: Upland, CA 91784

Compensation: Hourly pay range of $17.10 - $22.85 (starting pay at step 1, with progression to the maximum step per the collective bargaining agreement).
About the role
The Meat Clerk is accountable for delivering G.O.A.T. (Greet, Observe, Assist, Thank) service to customers. This role involves providing excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with meat selections, answering questions, and ensuring products are fresh, well-stocked, and properly displayed. The Meat Clerk supports daily department operations, including cutting, trimming, packaging, and labeling meat products while adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, helpful service while maintaining a professional demeanor and enhancing the customer’s shopping experience (G.O.A.T).
- Assist customers with purchases, including slicing, grinding, repackaging, and offering serving suggestions.
- Wrap, weigh, trim, price, and adjust pricing for all meat department products in compliance with company policies, food safety standards, customer protection laws, and weights and measures regulations.
- Maintain proper supply of products in cases and packaged deli through rotation and display per company standards and schematics.
- Clean wrapping, scaling, and production equipment according to proper sanitation procedures.
- Adhere to all safety, health, weights and measures regulations, and company recipes.
- Grind meat and prepare specialty items such as kabobs, marinated cuts, and custom orders.
- Strictly follow all food safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of meat products.
- Handle knives, saws, grinders, and other meat-cutting equipment safely and responsibly.
- Order products and supplies, and inventory products as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth department operations and excellent customer experience.
- Perform all other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma is preferred but not required.
- A valid Food Handler / Health Card.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Friendly, helpful attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction and service.
- Ability to work well within a team and follow direction with a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) for interacting with customers and teammates.
- Basic math and reading skills for handling pricing, labels, equipment, and inventory.
- Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
- Ability to operate meat processing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must maintain integrity and adhere to all store policies, procedures, safety standards, and the collective bargaining agreement.
