Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, morning snack, and afternoon snack for all classrooms.
- Follow CACFP meal patterns, portion guidelines, and center menus.
- Ensure meals meet nutritional standards and are prepared safely and efficiently.
- Accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and special dietary needs according to documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment that meets licensing and health department standards.
- Properly store food items, label products accurately, and monitor expiration dates.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including temperature control and safe food handling.
- Complete daily kitchen logs, production records, and required documentation.
- Assist with monitoring food and kitchen supply inventory.
- Complete food and supply orders as directed.
- Help minimize waste and maintain an organized kitchen workspace.
- Follow Michigan childcare licensing requirements related to food service.
- Maintain compliance with CACFP, health department regulations, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with center leadership regarding kitchen needs, supplies, or concerns.
Qualifications
- Experience in childcare, school, or institutional food service preferred.
- Knowledge of CACFP meal requirements preferred, or willingness to learn.
- ServSafe Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
