Key Responsibilities

  • Assists the OSC Chief of Operations in supervision and control of WCOPFOR operations:
    • Monitor and maintain the current picture - track locations, statuses, and readiness of friendly, adjacent, and threat forces; update the common operational picture and running estimates.
    • Execute commander's guidance - issue and coordinate tactical tasks, FRAGORDs, and immediate orders to subordinate units in accordance with the plan and command channels.
    • Cook up fires and effects - deconflict, prioritize, and process urgent fire support, close air support, counter-fire, and EW/cyber requests with fires, air, and targeting cells.
    • Manage maneuver and sustainment execution - synchronize movement, boundaries, routes, and sustainment actions (resupply, CASEVAC, maintenance) to support ongoing operations.
    • Control and integrate simulations/EXCON for training - during exercises, ensure MSEL injects, simulation events, and control inputs are integrated into the current fight.
    • Maintain communications and reporting - consolidate Battle Update/OPS briefs, SITREPs, and RFIs; provide timely back-briefs to the staff/commander.
    • Conduct combat assessments and running estimates - evaluate effects of actions, recommend branches and sequels, update the commander's running estimate.
    • Cook up liaison and staff movement - manage LNOs, attachments, and inter-cell coordination required for immediate operations.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Knowledge of Army and Joint regulations and current doctrine.
    • Ability to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 5% of the time)
    • One or more of the following:
      • BS/BA degree with 5 years of military experience or
      • High School and 10 years of military experience.

    Preferred Experience and Qualifications

    • Advanced degree.
    • Military Education Level (MEL) 4
    • Experience as a former field grade officer, warrant officer, or sergeant major.
    • Successfully served in a key developmental position at brigade/battalion level.
    • Combat Arms experience.
    • Experience with Constructive Simulation Models (e.g., Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC), Warfighters Simulation (WARSIM).
    • Experience with FM 7-100 series OPFOR doctrine.
    • Experience working with the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP).
    • Strong problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and a customer-focused approach.

    Working Conditions

    Inside Government training facilities.

    Required Travel

    Employees will travel to temporary work locations during exercises.
