About the role

The MCOT Caseworker plays a critical role in providing timely and effective crisis intervention services to children and families in emergency situations. This position involves responding to referrals, assessing immediate safety concerns, and coordinating appropriate resources to ensure the well-being of vulnerable individuals. The caseworker will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including law enforcement, healthcare providers, and social service agencies, to develop and implement safety plans. A key outcome of this role is to stabilize crisis situations while promoting long-term safety and support for children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to crisis referrals involving children and families to assess safety and risk factors.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and interviews to gather relevant information and determine immediate needs.
  • Develop and implement safety plans in collaboration with families and partner agencies to protect children at risk.
  • Cookordinate with law enforcement, medical professionals, and community resources to facilitate comprehensive care.
  • Document case activities accurately and maintain detailed records in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
  • Provide ongoing support and follow-up to ensure the effectiveness of interventions and promote family stability.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to case planning and review processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field. Experience working with children and families in crisis or child welfare settings. Knowledge of child protection laws, family dynamics, and community resources. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse populations. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to respond to emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or related discipline. Certification or training in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, or child advocacy. Experience working within a Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) or similar crisis response environment. Familiarity with electronic case management systems and data reporting tools. Bilingual abilities to serve non-English speaking populations.
