Utilize knowledge of behavioral health and experience with de-escalation and problem-solving to intervene with police for individuals/families experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Provide clinical care and support using knowledge of systems (DMH/DDS/DYS/DCF), CBHI services, and the Wraparound process to prevent hospitalization and stabilize individuals in the community.
Responsibilities
- Quickly assess and provide brief solution-focused interventions using de-escalation techniques and supportive counseling for individuals/families in crisis.
- Work in conjunction with police and first responders to advocate and address safety concerns with flexibility to respond to multiple crises.
- Collaborate with partners (e.g., LEAD program, CCIT, HUB) to provide assessment, stabilization, and community-based support referrals.
- Complete collateral contacts with an individual’s providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist with safety planning over the six-day intervention period and beyond.
- Complete intake data forms by telephone or in person, either on-site or at outreach locations.
- Confirm health care coverage and conduct comprehensive mental health status exams for youth and adults using admissions/screening instruments, including DSM IV/DSM V diagnoses.
- Perform telephone screenings and consultations.
- Apply different treatment modalities to stabilize clients at home and prevent hospitalization.
- Consult with clinic director, administrator on call, or consulting psychiatrist prior to disposition planning (e.g., outpatient services, hospitalization, or hospital diversion).
- Participate in regularly scheduled clinical supervision, staff meetings, staff development, and training.

Requirements
- MA-level graduates are welcome to apply; offers may be made pending verification of MA degree.
- Knowledge of behavioral health, de-escalation techniques, and systems such as DMH/DDS/DYS/DCF, CBHI services, and the Wraparound process.
- Understanding of treatment modalities to stabilize clients and prevent hospitalization.
- Ability to work collaboratively with police, first responders, and community partners.
- Eligibility for a $1 per hour language differential for proficiency in Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish, or ASL.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM.
- May require work beyond a 40-hour workweek due to client needs.
- Considered essential staff; expected to report to work during holidays, emergencies, or agency closings (e.g., inclement weather).
- May be required to remain on shift or work additional hours until relief staff is available.
- Overnight shifts (if applicable) are considered awake overnight positions.
Pay
Compensation is determined by a range of factors including prior experience, education, certifications, licenses, skills, expertise, location, and internal equity. Offers may include bonuses or other incentives based on role eligibility.
