QTEC Aerospace is seeking a detail-oriented MBSE Systems Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will collaborate with industry and government professionals on Air & Missile Defense programs.
About the role
The selected engineer will contribute to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) efforts, addressing complex systems-level challenges and developing solutions that shape the future of Army Air Defense.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, define, and manage system-level requirements, interfaces, and architectures supporting air defense to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into solutions that consider technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Build deep knowledge of integrated air and missile defense concepts, including sensors, weapons, communications, and command-and-control systems.
- Apply MBSE techniques and tools such as Cameo or MagicDraw to support system design and analysis.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure system components interface correctly and fulfill mission objectives.
- Maintain clear links between requirements, design elements, and test cases; manage changes and impact assessments across the system lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of related experience.
- Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment.
- Experience with MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo or MagicDraw).
- Proven ability to understand and define system interfaces, architecture, and behavior.
- Experience with requirements analysis, system architecture, and interface definition.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and prepare briefings for customers.
- Self-motivated and mission-focused.
- Must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
Skills
- Technical experience with Integrated Air & Missile Defense (IAMD) systems and sensors (e.g., PATRIOT, THAAD, LTAMDS) and their impact on command-and-control system architecture, requirements, and interfaces.
- Systems Engineering experience in an Agile development environment.
- Experience with Jira and other Atlassian tools.
- Knowledge of Link-16 and/or other tactical data links.
- Ability to conduct requirements impact assessments and contribute to engineering change proposals.
