Position Summary

The Process Engineer is a hands-on manufacturing professional responsible for optimizing processes, equipment, and workflows throughout boat production. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Production teams, this role leads continuous improvement initiatives, capital projects, and problem-solving efforts that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. The position plays a critical role in advancing manufacturing efficiency, supporting growth initiatives, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and revise processes to generate cost savings and improve safety, equipment reliability, product quality and throughput efficiency
  • Design, evaluate and improve process flow throughout manufacturing
  • Research, develop and implement new processes, equipment, and procedures for manufacturing
  • Develop, justify, and implement capital expenditure projects from concept to completion
  • Document and update work instructions, standard operating procedures, and time observations of production processes
  • Lead and mentor production supervisors and employees in resolving quality issues and executing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement Events (Kaizen Events)
  • Participate in quality audits and production startup meetings
  • Participate in design reviews to improve product manufacturability
  • Analyze production data, standard hours, labor variance, rework, quality defects, and throughput performance to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities
  • Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience

4-year degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering; 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers. Ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform calculations involving percentages, ratios, proportions, and basic statistical methods. Ability to analyze manufacturing, quality, and production data to identify trends, evaluate process performance, and support continuous improvement efforts. Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry to practical manufacturing applications.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical information, engineering drawings, specifications, and process documentation to solve manufacturing challenges and improve operational performance. Demonstrated ability to evaluate alternatives, make sound decisions, and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Other Qualifications

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong analytical and project management skills. Experience with Smartsheet, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, Bambu Studio, and Mastercam preferred. Proven ability to lead Kaizen events, facilitate cross-functional teams, and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
