Careers at SUSLA. Candidate is responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear documentation of student progress, and support of the academic success of our students.
Responsibilities
- Ensures that course syllabi reflect the expectations the faculty have of the students.
- Informs the student through written information, email or website course requirements, grade determination, testing and other assignments as well as information regarding other departmental policies.
- Uses current technology to enhance effectiveness, including but not limited to computers, course management systems (Moodle), overhead projectors, PowerPoint, DVD/VCR equipment, and willing to learn and apply any other new technology needed to enhance learning.
- Participates in meetings called by University Administrators, including the Department Chair for the purpose of disseminating information; providing input into the decision-making process or for the sharing of expertise with colleagues.
- Compiles, administers and grades assignments and examinations in a timely manner so that the student is aware of his/her progress and allows time for the development of a plan that will promote student success and a positive outcome.
- Provides a safe environment for students; encourages students to use available support services; encourages group activities and involvement of classes as appropriate.
- Collaborates with support services to ensure information is shared and discussed.
- Responsible for the security of assigned equipment, classrooms, office, and all other teaching materials.
- Maintains FERPA standards as applied to public institution of higher learning.
- Provides information and/or data to administration so that the proper reports may be completed and filed with the proper educational agency, funding agency, or accrediting agency.
- Fulfills Institutional course, faculty, and students’ evaluation procedures.
- Fulfills the procedures related to the Registrar's Office such as grade reports and deadlines' attendance record reports; withdrawal deadline; class changes; and time/room scheduling.
- Focuses on customer service, timely communication, and meeting deadlines.
- Performs other duties as needed or required.
Requirements
- Must have a Master’s degree with at least 18 hours of graduate work in Mathematics.
- Computer skills are necessary.
- Strong attention to detail is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience in secondary education or professional work experience.
