Mathematical Statistician

Requirements

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, National Center for Environmental Health, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• A. Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.
• OR B. Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:

• Applying advanced statistical theory and quantitative methods to the analysis and interpretation of laboratory measurement data and population-based data sets related to tobacco exposure, volatile organic compounds and other environmental chemicals
• Developing and applying advanced mathematical statistical models, survey methodologies, and analytical techniques to address complex public health research.
• Providing technical advice in developing study designs to collect and analyze data.
