Mathematics Teacher (Leave Position) for 2026-2027 School Year Saint Ignatius College Prep - Chicago, IL Job Title: Math Teacher (Leave Position) Department: FacultyMathematics Department Reports To: Mathematics Department Chair & Assistant Prefect of Studies FLSA Status: Exempt Employment Status: Temporary, 10-month, Full-time Duration: 2026-2027 School Year Date Updated: August 7, 2026 Position Summary The Mathematics Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, rigorous, and mission-centered instruction that supports the academic, spiritual, and personal formation of students within the Jesuit Catholic tradition. The teacher fosters a dynamic learning environment that encourages critical thinking, faith development, and service to others while collaborating with colleagues to advance the School's commitment to educating the whole person. This position contributes to the intellectual and spiritual life of the Saint Ignatius community through excellence in teaching and active participation in school life. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver Mathematics instruction for multiple course levels in alignment with departmental curriculum and Catholic educational standards.Develop engaging lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials that promote critical thinking, faith formation, and student achievement.Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment that encourages academic excellence and personal growth.Utilize the School's 1:1 iPad program and other instructional technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.Assess student learning, maintain accurate academic records, and communicate student progress with families and school personnel.Collaborate with Mathematics faculty and interdisciplinary teams to support curriculum development and instructional excellence.Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, retreats, liturgies, and other school activities that support the Jesuit mission.Serve as a positive role model by supporting students' academic, spiritual, and personal development.Other duties as assigned. Scope and Impact This position has a direct impact on student learning, faith formation, and the overall educational mission of Saint Ignatius College Prep. The Theology Teacher exercises professional judgment in curriculum implementation, instructional practices, and classroom management while contributing to a collaborative academic environment. The role supports the School's mission by fostering meaningful relationships with students, colleagues, and families and by promoting the values of Jesuit education. Qualifications - Required Bachelor's degree in mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education, or a related field.Background suitable for teaching all levels of Mathematics.Understanding of educational theory and effective instructional practices.Ability to integrate instructional technology into teaching and learning.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Commitment to working with a diverse student body.Commitment to collaboration and Catholic education. Qualifications - Preferred Master's degree in mathematics, Education, or related fieldValid state teaching credentials.Previous secondary teaching experience.Practicing Catholic with an appreciation for Jesuit education. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs) Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.Ability to respond thoughtfully to varied student learning needs, use assessment data and professional judgment to adjust instruction, and maintain an organized, supportive classroom environment.Strong mathematics content knowledge; facility with instructional technology; ability to design, deliver, and assess effective mathematics instruction across assigned courses.Commitment to collaboration, professional growth, Catholic education, the Jesuit mission, and working effectively with a diverse student body and faculty community. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position operates in a classroom and school environment with regular interaction with students, faculty, staff, and families. The role requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, communicating, and using instructional technology. Occasional evening or weekend participation in school events, retreats, professional development, or other school-sponsored activities may be required. Compensation And Schedule This is a full-time (10-month), exempt, temporary position for the 20262027 school year.Salary Range: $55,000$85,000.Compensation is salaried and commensurate with education and experience. Performance Expectations Provide consistent, rigorous, mission-aligned mathematics instruction that supports student achievement and course continuity throughout the leave assignment.Complete instructional planning, grading, feedback, recordkeeping, and required communications in a timely and professional manner; maintain appropriate progress through assigned course curricula.Model professionalism, collaboration, care for the whole student, commitment to others, respect for a diverse community, and support for the Catholic and Jesuit mission of Saint Ignatius College Prep.
