Yorkville School District is seeking a full-time Middle School Math Teacher at Yorkville Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year.
About the Role
To facilitate student success and growth by implementing district-approved curriculum, addressing the specific educational needs of individual students, and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment. Successful candidates will provide meaningful feedback to students, parents, and administration, and facilitate the academic and emotional growth of students in accordance with the district’s strategic plan and mission.
Responsibilities
- Develop and administer school math curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; translate plans into learning experiences to best utilize available time.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs; provide individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Instruct students in principles of responsible citizenship and other subjects as specified by applicable laws and district regulations.
- Acquire professional knowledge and stay current with developments in the educational field through seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or research.
- Maintain accurate and complete records for student activities, achievements, and attendance as required by district procedures and laws.
- Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Coordinate with other professional staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum; participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing protocol.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by program administrators or the Superintendent.
Requirements
- Professional Educator License (PEL).
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education or a related discipline applicable to teaching.
- Successful prior teaching experience at the appropriate grade levels is a plus.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, middle school curriculum, and educational pedagogy, including differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action plan formulation.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work effectively.
- Strong communication skills with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Work Environment
- Works in standard office and school building environments.
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Pay
Starting salary: $51,612 for a Bachelor’s degree with zero years of experience (BS+0, year 1).
