About the role

The Math Teacher at The Pinnacle School provides engaging, data-driven instruction in a supportive learning environment for students with complex learning challenges. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students with diverse learning needs reach their full potential through individualized instruction, collaboration, and evidence-based teaching practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, education, mathematics, or a related field
  • Valid Connecticut state endorsement (165): Special Education: Comprehensive (Grades K-12), or (029): Mathematics (Grades 7-12), or eligibility for certification
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience teaching special education student populations with language-based learning differences
  • Familiar with the IEP process and collection of progress monitoring data
  • Commitment to help children of all abilities reach their full potential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, enthusiastic style

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, data-driven mathematics instruction aligned with the school's mission and philosophy
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate students' learning styles, abilities, and current achievement levels
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including Present Levels of Performance, measurable goals, and objectives
  • Participate as an active member of the Planning & Placement Team (PPT)
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, teaching methods, and learning principles to help students achieve academic and IEP goals
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain progress monitoring data to inform instructional decisions
  • Create and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that accounts for students' social, emotional, and executive functioning needs
