About the role
The Future Sailor Preparatory Course (FPSC) is a specialized program designed to provide recruits with essential academic skills, focusing on math concepts relevant to the ASVAB. This test is crucial for assessing recruits' qualifications for enlistment, job eligibility, and career placement.
Responsibilities
- Teach ASVAB math topics including Word Problems, Decimals, Fractions, Ratios, Proportions, Percents, Measures and Conversions, Algebra, Geometry, Test Taking Strategies, Communication, and Teaching Techniques.
- Maintain an orderly and professional atmosphere, manage study hall/tutoring time, collaborate with FSPC instructors and Curriculum Developers, and use Microsoft PowerPoint and Teams.
- Gain familiarity with Navy expectations and course curriculum, complete Navy-specific training modules, and adhere to applicable Navy standards.
- Interpret instructions involving multiple abstract and concrete variables, deliver content effectively, efficiently, and with fidelity, and ensure fidelity to Navy-approved curriculum.
Requirements
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree in Math Education or a related field.
- Classroom experience teaching middle school-level math or higher, or college teaching is acceptable.
- Interpersonal skills, resilience, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to gain familiarity with Navy expectations and curriculum, complete Navy-specific training modules, and adhere to applicable Navy standards.
- Fluent in English, able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance, and be a US Citizen.
