Math & Literacy Tutors

Role Description

This is a remote, contract role for Math & Literacy Tutors. Tutors will deliver virtual small-group or one-on-one instruction in mathematics and literacy, following program curricula and lesson plans that integrate culturally relevant examples and strategies. Daily responsibilities include assessing learner needs, planning sessions, facilitating interactive activities, assigning practice work, and tracking progress through regular feedback and documentation. Tutors will communicate with caregivers or adult learners as appropriate, collaborate with program staff to refine instructional approaches, and participate in occasional training sessions. The role requires consistent scheduling, reliable technology, and a commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Strong tutoring and coaching skills, with experience supporting learners individually or in small groups.
• Background in education and literacy instruction, including familiarity with reading development and foundational skills.
• Experience or interest in adult literacy and working with diverse age groups and learning levels.
• Ability to integrate culturally responsive practices into math and literacy teaching.
• Comfort with virtual teaching platforms and online instructional tools.
• Excellent communication, patience, and classroom management in remote settings.
• Prior experience in K–12 education, community education, or tutoring programs is preferred.
• Relevant coursework or degree in Education, Mathematics, Literacy, or a related field is beneficial.
