About the Role

As an Intervention Specialist, you will create a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth. This role will provide the necessary support to students to ensure they meet their maximum potential while assisting the Principal in maintaining a school atmosphere where learning is of prime importance.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the company's philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in the adopted courses of study.
• Creates purposeful and appropriate lesson plans which provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task.
• Presents subject matter to students to maximize learning opportunities and provides real-world, application-based examples.
• Maximizes the educational achievement of each student by assessing strengths and weaknesses frequently and providing appropriate activities to address student needs.
• Generates progress reports as required and refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
• Assigns lessons, corrects student work, and reviews oral presentations.
• Prepares students for state-required achievement assessments.
• Stays current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, sharing this knowledge for the continual improvement of the school's curriculum.
• Assists in the ongoing curriculum revision process, including the revision of written courses of study.
• Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities.
• Leads discipline enforcement throughout the school, investigating disciplinary problems, documenting information, and reporting findings to appropriate individuals.
• Investigates referrals involving stolen or missing student/school property and reports findings.
• Works closely with the school guidance counselor, principal, and local law enforcement agencies, making referrals as appropriate.
• Recommends appropriate sanctions, including detentions, campus service, suspensions, and referrals to the Principal.
• Conducts periodic tours of the campus and classroom visits to ensure policies are enforced.
• Assists with the enforcement of school/state attendance policies.
• Counsels students and parents regarding behavioral problems.
• Assists with the supervision of organized student gatherings and ensures all equipment is operative.
• Coordinates school bus supervision before and after school, as well as student lunchroom and work duty assignments.
• Supervises students detained after school hours for disciplinary reasons.
• Provides information to the principal regarding teachers' effectiveness in classroom management and pupil control.
• Ensures the school code of conduct is enforced consistently.
• Participates in school-based leadership opportunities (e.g., team meetings, lead teacher meetings).
• Convenes scheduled meetings with Guidance Counselors and Principal to discuss individual cases and student well-being.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
• Possession of valid teaching certification (if appropriate).
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Knowledge of technology as related to specific job functions.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment includes usual office conditions. The environment may be noisy during high student traffic.
