About the Role

VCU Health’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a specialist to provide comprehensive Maternal-Fetal Medicine care, including labor and delivery coverage, inpatient and outpatient consultation, prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound, management of high-risk pregnancies, and performance of specialty-specific procedures. The position involves teaching students, residents, and fellows; participating in clinical research; and contributing to departmental and institutional service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialty care in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, including labor and delivery coverage, consultations, prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound, and management of high-risk pregnancies.
  • Perform specialty-specific procedures.
  • Participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, focusing on core maternal-fetal medicine objectives.
  • Initiate and lead research projects, mentor fellows, residents, and students in research, and contribute to scholarly publications and presentations.
  • Serve on departmental, hospital, and university committees as assigned.
  • Fully engage in the clinical activities of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine division, including obstetric clinics, ultrasound, and labor and delivery coverage, as determined by the division director.
  • Participate in administrative activities as assigned by the division director and department chair.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of training in General OB/GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine equivalent to ACGME and ABOG accredited programs.
  • Eligible for a medical license in Virginia.
  • Demonstrated ability or commitment to fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility among faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited OB/GYN residency.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship training program in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
  • Certification by the American Board of OB/GYN in General OB/GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine; recent fellowship graduates not yet eligible for the exam will be considered with the expectation of taking the certification exams at the earliest opportunity.
