Maternal Fetal Medicine - Emerging Researcher/Educator
About the Role
The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Virginia is seeking an outstanding academic physician with demonstrated emerging skills in research and/or education. This tenure-eligible position is open at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
The successful candidate will provide excellent clinical care, participate in obstetrics and women’s health research, and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows. The division comprises 7 physicians, 3 genetic counselors, a perinatal nurse navigator, and 8 dedicated core sonographers. Clinical research support includes a research administrator, coordinator, and access to a central Clinical Trials Unit.
Division members deliver comprehensive high-risk obstetric care, including inpatient and outpatient services, ultrasound-guided fetal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, remote fetal ultrasound reads, and subspecialty consultations. The division oversees the Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine and actively participates in the OB/GYN Residency Program.
UVA Medical Center features a Level IV NICU with over 60 beds, supported by 12 full-time neonatologists and pediatric subspecialty resources. Responsibilities
- Provide excellent clinical care in high-risk obstetrics.
- Participate in ongoing research in obstetrics and women’s health.
- Mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Contribute to advancing educational methods for trainees.
- Engage in obstetrics-based research initiatives.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine.
