Materials Testing Technician — Manufacturing QA

About the role

Hands-on testing of raw materials and finished goods in a fast-moving manufacturing QA lab. You will ensure products meet strict internal and customer specifications, document results, and help solve problems when test results do not align.

Responsibilities

  • Test raw materials and finished goods against internal and customer specifications.
  • Prioritize and complete lab tasks in alignment with safety procedures and SOPs.
  • Perform additional tests or inspections as assigned by department leaders.
  • Become proficient in all core methods after training; handle non-routine tasks as they arise.
  • Collect and package samples for testing; support complaint investigations with required testing.
  • Enter results and conditions into quality systems and manufacturing/ERP software.
  • Recommend and log adjustments for nonconforming material; determine material disposition (approve/reject).
  • Carry out or verify calibration procedures for raw materials.
  • Maintain 6S housekeeping and a safe, orderly lab.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (Associate degree in a technical discipline preferred).
  • 1+ year of manufacturing experience.
  • Effective communicator across supervisors, peers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Competence with basic math and formula-based calculations.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Basic computer/data entry skills; ERP experience a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail; team-oriented and willing to help others.

Schedule

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, Monday–Friday.
  • Training: Monday–Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, for up to 4 weeks prior to moving to 2nd shift (as deemed necessary by the Lab Manager).

Pay

$35,000 – $46,000 per year.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and wear required PPE.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Ability to distinguish between color shades and detect minor color variations.
