Materials Testing Applications Engineer
Primary Objectives
Support MTS’ Materials Testing business by providing materials testing knowledge/expertise to our worldwide customer base.
Provide pre-sales technical support and leadership to both our customers and sales teams.
Led the translation of customer requirements into a proposed technical solution.
Major Areas Of Accountability
- Provide technical assistance directly to our customers and salespeople.
- Establish technical credibility with the prospective customer.
- Understand the prospect’s technical needs and develop the appropriate MTS testing solution.
- Conduct testing demonstrations to help the prospective customer understand the solution.
- Plans and conduct effective customer presentations.
- Participate in professional committees and influence testing standards when possible.
- Demonstrated ability to manage customer sales opportunities, develop appropriate product solutions, and lead a technical pursuit team through solution creation.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4-year degree in Engineering or Materials Science.
- 2-10 years of progressively demanding technical experience.
- Willingness to travel. This is a global role, with both domestic and international travel averaging 5%-15%.
- Demonstrated business acumen and technical expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience working with a wide range of customers.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and propose concepts and test methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage sales opportunities, lead a technical pursuit team, and develop appropriate product solutions.
- Postgraduate degree in Materials Science or Engineering.
- Materials Science expertise in one or more of these areas: Low Cycle Fatigue, High Cycle Fatigue, Fracture Mechanics, or Fatigue Crack Growth Testing of Metallic or Composite Materials.
- Experience conducting tests in a Materials Testing Laboratory.
- Exposure to MTS Test Equipment.

Compensation Information
The compensation for this position ranges from $80,000-$120,000 based on relevant experience and education.
