Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Materials Testing Engineer. This role involves performing various physical property tests, preparing and analyzing samples, interpreting data, and reporting results. The position offers valuable on-the-job experience and exposure to the materials testing field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of physical property testing including tensile, compression, flexural, hardness, thermal conductivity, flammability, water absorption, vapor transmission, color, gloss, adhesion, etc.
  • Prepare and analyze non-metallic samples for testing
  • Interpret data, review, and report testing results
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills for verbal and written communication with clients and colleagues
  • Perform equipment verification and preventative maintenance
  • Participate in proficiency testing in qualified disciplines
  • Perform personal training, cross-training of employees, and continued learning of testing techniques
  • Work within project management and accounting systems
  • Perform all duties as required within an ISO 17025 quality system
  • Absorb all safety and housekeeping rules and regulations
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Materials Science or a related field
  • 2-4 years related work experience preferred but not necessary

Skills

  • Strong inter-personal skills for verbal and written communication
  • Equipment verification and preventative maintenance skills
  • Proficiency in relevant testing techniques
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new testing methods

Benefits

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000/yr DOE
