Summary Of Job Description

The Team Lead, Materials Department, 2nd Shift, is responsible for motivating, leading, and counseling team members. They must be knowledgeable in all aspects of the department to effectively lead the team. Key responsibilities include scheduling, prioritizing work, managing material availability, inspecting products, maintaining paperwork, and ensuring a safe, clean work environment. The position requires hands-on work, professional interactions, and adherence to safety protocols.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to perform and demonstrate most tasks of the department
  • Motivate, assign work, and lead all employees in your department
  • Monitor and adjust workflow to meet the requirements of the schedule
  • Perform product inspections and evaluate the quality of the work prior to the product leaving the area
  • Inventory stock and communicate shortages to appropriate personnel
  • Maintain and complete all manufacturing paperwork for the area
  • Willingness to lead by example through hands-on work
  • Interact with customers and customer representatives professionally
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • One year of leadership experience in manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience performing tasks of the department
  • No more than three attendance points within the past 12 months

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer literate and experienced with Microsoft products (Excel, Word)
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing principles (value streams, 5S, waste types, project planning)
