Materials Specialist Series (Physical Laboratory)

Responsibilities

• Prepares and tests materials such as aggregates, concrete, bituminous mixtures, or general materials.
• Utilizes computers, electronic systems, and testing equipment for data entry, data collection, analysis, and preparation of laboratory testing reports.
• Prepares, tabulates, and processes test data for specification compliance.
• May prepare reports on investigation and develop recommendations for specific problems.
• Performs duties outlined in the quality system manuals, including completing competency exam evaluations, verifying results, demonstrating test procedures, and calibrating equipment.
• Affords assistance in quality control/quality assurance reference testing.
• Performs lead worker responsibilities, which may include providing general instruction, assigning and reviewing work, coaching and training, providing guidance and instruction in the proper and most efficient methods of accomplishing tasks, and providing input to the direct supervisor on staffing decisions and performance management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-certified college or university curriculum.
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification required within 90 days.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

Qualifications

The official work location for this position is in Jefferson City. Remote work from an approved MoDOT location may be possible.

Pay

The entry salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $72,691.68, and a senior starting salary of $78,506.88.

Schedule

Job requires regular, statewide, overnight travel.
