Key Responsibilities

  • Performs root cause analysis of material failures, provides effective solutions to production composite issues
  • Generates test plans & reports
  • Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems
  • Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop non-metallic processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes
  • Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications
  • Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications
  • Reviews and approves subcontractor material processing procedures
  • May travel to subcontractor locations

Basic Qualifications

  • M&P Engineer (level 2): Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience to include a background in composite materials for airframe structures
  • Principal M&P Engineer (level 3): Requires a minimum of a BS in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience to include a background in composite materials OR a Master of Science (MS) degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience to include a background in composite materials for airframe structures
  • Experience with composite fabrication and design on aircraft
  • Experience with repair processes composite materials used in aerospace structures
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance prior to start
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) Clearance
  • Ability to perform this role 2nd shift

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree discipline in Materials Science or similar
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously
  • Comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
  • Experience with military specs and standards
  • Experience interfacing with a military customer

Primary Level Salary Range

Annual Salary Range: $75,100.00 - $112,700.00

Secondary Level Salary Range

Annual Salary Range: $93,300.00 - $139,900.00
