Role Overview
The MP&L Manager will lead the Materials, Planning & Logistics (MP&L) function at Alkegen's Sebring, Ohio locations. The role is crucial for achieving On-Time In-Full (OTIF) targets, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supporting production and shipping operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage production plans and batch schedules in coordination with scheduler, production, engineering, and customer service.
- Manage safety stock analysis and define appropriate inventory stocking levels.
- Maintain inventory health through cycle count programs and report on variances.
- Plan and coordinate production for all product lines, optimizing plant capacity.
- Obtain and manage data on product types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates.
- Coordinate shipping personnel for inbound and outbound shipments, including interplant transfers and offsite storage movements.
- Liaise with maintenance for production line availability and shutdown schedules.
- Support R&D activities with operations, including planning and directing production of new products.
- Manage vendor relationships and support procurement processes.
- Evaluate and dispose of excess and obsolete inventory.
- Manage inventory of finished goods and work-in-progress (WIP).
- Identify and implement purchase saving opportunities, such as cost avoidance, unit price reductions, consignment agreements, and supplier negotiations.
- Implement and manage the dispatch process, including shipment schedules, in collaboration with customer service and plant teams.
- Ensure delivery dates and plant sales forecasts are met, working closely with production and customer service.
- Lead the product expediting process and enforce FIFO inventory practices.
- Direct and develop the MP&L team, including workload assignment, training, and performance development.
- Promote staff development using Alkegen’s performance management tools and frameworks.
- Enforce Alkegen’s Safety and Environmental policies and company values.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and Lean/5S activities within MP&L.
- Contribute to the site’s annual business plan and provide forecasting input.
- Resolve MP&L-related complaints and conduct RCCA/root cause analysis as required.
Essential Qualifications, Experience And Skills
- Very organized, detail-oriented, and proficient with numerical calculations.
- Excellent people/process development and communication skills.
- Computer literate with MS Office and email applications.
- Previous ERP/MRP software experience.
- 5+ years of Supply Chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or commensurate experience and accreditation in Supply Chain Management.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to see cause and effect between operational decisions and financial outcomes.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, engage, and hold teams accountable.
- Highly analytical and data-driven; able to interpret metrics and results and drive fact-based decision-making.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, complex environments with competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
