Materials Planner

Primary Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, directs and controls activities related to the production planning and scheduling function to achieve on time delivery and inventory goals.
• Generates master production schedules for each manufacturing area.
• Acts as a liaison with manufacturing, sales, engineering, purchasing and other related departments on matters pertaining to schedules, production, methods, materials and designs to resolve day-to-day production problems.
• Keeps schedules valid based on schedule execution feedback from manufacturing and purchasing.
• Responsible for working with manufacturing to meet inventory accuracy goals.
• Develops capacity-based production plans that meet customer requirements and support on-time delivery and inventory goals.
• Performs capacity planning techniques, both at the Master Production Schedule Level and at the Shop Order Level to ensure that resources are in place to support the master production schedule.
• Manages the purchase part planning and shop scheduling functions.

Qualifications

• Leadership responsibility for the successful implementation of MRP and lean-manufacturing processes.
• Detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
• Excellent project-management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate knowledge and proven success in inventory reduction.
• Prior SAP experience is a plus, with awareness of the nuances and behaviors of SAP.
• Minimum of three years of planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Must have a working knowledge of standard inventory-control procedures.
• Computer proficient in MS Office and can format charts and spreadsheets.
