Materials Planner

About the role

The Materials Planner is responsible for directing and controlling raw materials for the plant. This includes supporting all activities related to the movement of raw or finished materials, storage, production scheduling, and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the analysis and correct submission of requirements in time to all suppliers based on the client’s requirements.
• Follow-up to suppliers, shipments, issuance of documents, arrival of material and entry of the same.
• Comply with KPI’s (Inventory Level, Excess and Obsolete, Expedited Cost, etc.).
• Maintain efficient inventory levels of materials and finished goods.
• Coordinate supplier shipments to avoid line stoppages.
• Monitor and manage inventory of productive materials.
• Review accruals received against shipments from suppliers at least once a month.
• Define and monitor engineering, change breakpoints, and work with relevant departments.
• Collaborate with the Cycle Counting Supervisor to ensure the reliability of physical inventories vs. system.
• Manage supplier performance to enforce operational requirements such as on-time shipments, ASN's, expedited, etc.
• Generate QNs to suppliers based on logistical failures reported by the materials team.
• Follow-up virtual operations in coordination with Finance, AP, and Customs.
• Participate in quality and environmental system improvements.
• Standardize 5's in each work unit to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.

Requirements

• Associ’s degree in a related field or five years’ experience in maintenance and supervisory experience in a foam manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Polyurethane foam processing.
• Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
• Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.
• Quality Management System Overview: ISO14001/TS16949.
• Right-to-Know/Hazardous Communication.
• Lock Out/Tag Out Affected/Authorized as appropriate.
• TDI Hazards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Five years of experience in maintenance and supervisory roles in a foam manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Polyurethane foam processing.
• Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
• Background in manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, and procedures.
• Experience with ISO14001/TS16949 Quality Management System.
• Knowledge of Right-to-Know/Hazardous Communication and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
• Understanding of TDI Hazards.

• Experience with SAP/AS400 systems.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
