About the role
Dometic is seeking a passionate Materials Planner to join our growing team in Pompano Beach, FL. This position reports to the Materials Manager and plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and economical procurement of materials.
Responsibilities
- Review MRP messages daily and place or reschedule vendor orders as required to meet production schedule dates
- Ensure all teams have materials on hand required to meet customer demands in a profitable manner
- Maintain inventory levels according to the business plan
- Ensure the quality of purchased materials meets Engineering specifications
- Maintain a professional day-to-day business relationship with suppliers
- Adhere to all ISO Procedures and Work Instructions
- Follows up on information received from sales, engineering, marketing, and operations to support product transition/addition
- Interact with Engineering, Operations, Scheduling, Quality, and other departments that require material coordination
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities to disposition non-conforming components
- Participate, as needed, in program review and new product introduction meetings
- Provide timely input to management regarding problems such as shortages and design changes
- Suggests, investigates and supports the implementation of cost savings initiatives
- Resolves issues impacting timely payments to suppliers
- Monitors supplier performance and requests corrective actions when required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred; APICS Certification is beneficial
- Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong sense of urgency
- Good verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of MRP; AS400 experience is preferred
- Product knowledge and HVAC experience a plus

- Computer skills including but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and HRIS
- The ability to learn other applications quickly

- Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks
- Strong communications skills, both in person and in writing
