Materials Manager - Zatarain's (Gretna, LA)

McCormick & Company, Incorporated is a global leader in flavor. Zatarain's, a leader in New Orleans cuisine owned by McCormick, is seeking a Materials Manager at its facility in Gretna, Louisiana. With $4 billion in annual sales, McCormick manufactures, markets, and distributes spices, seasoning mixes, condiments, and other flavorful products to the entire food industry—retail outlets, food manufacturers, and food service businesses.

About the role

Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, this role provides strategic leadership for a function within a high-performance plant/facility. The Materials Manager has overall accountability for the performance of the function and its impact on the larger operating unit, leading team managers and/or staff to achieve exceptional business results through people development and continuous improvement of manufacturing and supply chain processes.

As an active member of the facility leadership team, this role ensures strategies across functions are aligned to create common objectives and achieve plant/facility goals.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the management team to plan, forecast, and replenish McCormick products for customers, working with Customer Service, Logistics, Production Locations, Sales, R&D, and QA to provide effective and efficient service.
• Balance inventory, service, and cost objectives while driving collaborative supply chain improvements and supporting Customer Service.
• Oversee all replenishment activities and work with internal and external departments to meet customer demand.
• Manage the overall control and movement of materials in and out of the plant location, including purchasing, production scheduling and control, inventory and warehouse stock control, warehousing, sales order entry, customer service, traffic, and shipping.
• Manage Production Planning and Scheduling to ensure a smooth production curve while maintaining high customer service levels.
• Responsible for short-range and long-range production and material planning.
• Control inventory levels to maintain pre-determined management goals and objectives.
• Partner with Production and Quality to resolve material issues and coordinate with HQ S&OP functions to ensure high customer service levels while balancing inventory costs and line efficiency.
• Utilize HPWS Systems (Goal Setting, Performance Management, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Training & Development, Information Systems, Rewards & Recognition) to empower and develop teams.
• Manage and develop direct reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Purchasing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7–10 years of functional/leadership experience.
• Strong leadership experience with demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and people.
