Responsibilities

• Interact professionally with suppliers and customers.
• Maintain a safe working environment by monitoring safety procedures and equipment.
• Lead all aspects of material planning, purchasing, inventory management, and supplier coordination to ensure uninterrupted production while optimizing inventory investment and supply chain performance.
• Manage demand forecasting, material requirements planning (MRP), and inventory replenishment strategies.
• Monitor material availability and proactively resolve shortages impacting production or customer deliveries.
• Balance customer service levels with inventory investment through effective planning and scheduling.
• Analyze forecast accuracy, demand variability, and inventory trends to improve planning performance.
• Collaborate with suppliers to improve lead times, reduce risk, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Reduce RAW and WIP inventory levels (per sales dollar) without disrupting production or increasing operational costs.
• Assess and plan shop floor requirements through interpretation of MRP reports.
• Work with Sales/Product Manager on materials for new product startups to meet customer expectations.
• Review work throughout the process and at completion to ensure proper performance.
• Develop and maintain master production schedules based on customer demand, capacity, and inventory targets.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring performance for quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Sales, Customer Service, and Finance to support business priorities.
• Identify opportunities to improve material flow, planning processes, procurement efficiency, and inventory accuracy.
• Lead, coach, and develop planning, purchasing, and inventory teams to achieve operational excellence.
• Complete required adjustments based on cycle count results.
• Drive initiatives to reduce excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
• Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counting, audits, and inventory control processes.
• Develop and report inventory performance metrics, including inventory turns, days on hand, and service levels.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college degree in general business or related fields preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with working knowledge of MRP concepts.
• Proficiency in SAP MM.
• Knowledge of company procedures.
• Able to travel to other divisions when required.
• Detailed and hands-on oriented.
• Availability to work onsite Monday to Friday.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Reports to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to corporate procurement. Supervises MRO buyer, production and shipping scheduler, customer service, cycle counting, shipping, and receiving teams.
