About the Role
The Materials Management Supervisor will efficiently plan, organize, and control the work activities of the Materials Management and Shipping and Receiving departments. This position ensures solid execution of company programs consistent with overall company values. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Supply Chain Economics and supports the strategic and operational objectives of the business.
Responsibilities
- Supervise warehouse associates to achieve timely distribution and receipt of goods.
- Resolve technical or quality problems to meet production schedules and customer ship dates.
- Adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
- Coordinate sterilization schedules and ensure sterilization of products is performed accordingly.
- Maintain hazardous waste documentation and supervise pickup by outside waste hauler.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, follow prescribed safety regulations, and ensure compliance with established procedures.
- Ensure products and materials are properly stored and storage areas are maintained.
- Analyze material process flow, adjust, and improve as business needs change.
- Meet departmental objectives and operational goals while maintaining quality standards.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, provide instructions to employees, and listen attentively.
- Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping.
- Recommend and implement programs, policies, and strategies to increase productivity and efficient space utilization.
- Develop and maintain procedures applicable to operations.
- Implement and assist in the development of cycle counting and pull systems for each product.
- Identify and record problems relating to product, process, and quality systems.
- Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities relating to product and process.
- Initiate actions to improve product and process flow.
- Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Assist with various special ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties, the employee is occasionally required to:
- Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, or hear.
- Lift or move office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position manages Receiving, Order Fulfillment, and Drivers.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with 4 years’ experience in a management/supervisory role within Materials Management, Inventory Management, and/or Distribution environment (High School Diploma/GED and 8 years’ experience will substitute).
- Strong leadership skills and ability to lead by example.
- Ability to prioritize and focus on details with attention to accuracy and deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and problem-solve.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience in ERP/MRP systems.
Pay
$75,000–$90,000 per year.
