About the Role
The Materials Equipment Specialist coordinates the maintenance, repair, and flow of equipment, manages and establishes a cost-effective supply distribution system by evaluating and monitoring supply storage, back orders, and pricing while maintaining adequate quantities of supplies. The Specialist interacts with hospital end-users and vendors, assists in procuring non-routine, non-standard goods and services, and identifies the most appropriate vendor for supplies and services using approved vendors, following policies, standards, and procedures, and referencing existing contracts.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate maintenance, repair, and flow of equipment.
- Manage and establish a cost-effective supply distribution system.
- Evaluate and monitor supply storage, back orders, and pricing.
- Maintain adequate quantities of supplies.
- Interact with hospital end-users and vendors to assist in procuring non-routine, non-standard goods and services.
- Identify the most appropriate vendor for supplies and services, utilizing approved vendors whenever possible.
- Follow policies, standards, and procedures, referencing existing contracts.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or Certificate (mandatory).
- Two (2) years of related experience, preferably in a health care setting.
Qualifications
- Team player and self-starter who is accurate and detail-oriented (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize a variety of duties (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems with little or no assistance (preferred).
- Proficiency in software, including Excel, and prior experience with PeopleSoft (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and timetables (preferred).
- Knowledge of budgets, accounting, and medical terminology (preferred).
- Knowledgeable in healthcare purchasing and distribution (preferred).
- Associate's Degree (preferred).
Schedule
Primary schedule will be Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
