Your role in the mission
Type One Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Engineer with general metallurgical experience including materials testing and characterization. Ideally the candidate will have experience with fusion relevant materials and their challenges.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute materials testing and characterization campaigns on specialty fusion materials.
- Perform analysis on test and characterization results to generate campaign outcome reports.
- Perform literature reviews to help direct materials development efforts and lifetime estimations.
- Absorb and assist in vendor and external collaborator engagements and evaluations for specialty fusion materials.
- Absorb and assist in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and/or publications to disseminate research findings both internally and externally.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of Scientists, Engineers, and Technicians to foster a collaborative environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 2-3 years of experience or a master's degree and 1-2 years of experience in Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, or a similar field.
- In-depth knowledge on metallurgy including microstructures-property relationships, processing techniques, and failure mechanisms.
- Experience planning and executing materials testing and characterization campaigns.
- Familiarity with fusion relevant structural and armour materials and their environments.
- Ability to write clear and concise technical reports.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and propose innovative solutions.
- Attention to detail in experimental work and data analysis.
