About the role
ALLETE Renewable Resources is hiring one Materials and Inventory Controls Specialist I. In this role, you'll help ensure critical materials, equipment, and supplies are available when and where they're needed to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
Responsibilities
- Support inventory control activities by monitoring stock levels and coordinating material needs for construction, maintenance, and operational work.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and financial documentation within inventory management systems.
- Receive, issue, and track materials while ensuring compliance with established processes and procedures.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and material issues in partnership with internal teams and suppliers.
- Carry out inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Cook up coordination maintenance and repair of storage facilities and inventory areas.
- Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and electric pallet trucks, as required.
- Follow Company, OSHA, and environmental requirements to promote a safe and compliant workplace.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, supply chain, business administration, or a related field; OR Associate degree PLUS two or more years of relevant experience; OR High School diploma or equivalent PLUS four or more years of relevant experience.
- Additional experience or training in electric utility industry Operations, purchasing, or inventory administration is desired.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the permits necessary to operate various heavy equipment (including forklifts, electric pallet trucks, etc.).
- Flexibility to travel throughout facilities and/or service centers.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills are essential to support efficient operations and uphold Company values.

- The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $26.00 – $32.20.
