About the role
We are looking for a talented Material Technician to join our team specializing in Logistics for our Cummins Inc. facility in Maxton, NC.
Responsibilities
- Receive, handle, store, perform system transactions and dispatch goods in a factory or warehouse.
- Check for damage and discrepancies between goods and invoices.
- Accurately sort, label, and store goods; arrange storage to optimize warehouse space.
- Pick, pack, and dispatch outgoing goods according to written or verbal requests or orders.
- Ensure safety by stopping work and reporting any major injury hazards immediately.
- Adhere to HSE standards and report work-related injuries, illnesses, incidents, or hazards promptly.
- Minimize environmental impact and strive to sustain practices.
- Perform quality checks and identify non-conforming materials.
- Accurately receive, sort, label, and store goods to optimize warehouse space and ensure timely delivery to customers.
- Communicate effectively with team and support staff to foster a collaborative work environment.
- Participate in training and improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and process efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform routine maintenance tasks.

Qualifications
- Minimal or no work experience required.
- Forklift operations experience an advantage.
- Self-motivated to take actions that meet department goals.
- Accurate knowledge of part numbers, storage locations, and quantities.
- Computer/Cullinet experience with Receiving/Warehouse/Shipping transactions is an advantage.
- Understand the importance of inventory accuracy and on-time delivery of parts.
- Excellent attendance, time management, and housekeeping skills.
- Flexible to work multiple shifts as needed.
- Ability to cross-train for all logistics area positions up to Level IV.
- Demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and urgency in accomplishing tasks.
- Previous experience in material handling and supply chain logistics is an advantage.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and understand materials transactions and their impact on the plant operation.
- Possess a valid motor vehicle driver license.
Physical Demands
- Regularly lift or move up to 40 pounds.
- Stand, sit, walk, reach, use fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Use close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Use prudent judgment and safe driving methods in forklift operations, including proper loading/unloading operations and wearing safety belt on forklift and all other required PPE.
